The Coleg Sir Gar flanker crashed over for the last of Wales’ six tries as they cut loose to earn a 36-28 triumph in-front of a bumper crowd the Cardiff Arms Park. They bounced back from their narrow defeat at the hands of France on Saturday, and Morgan reckons the future is bright for Welsh rugby.
“It was a great performance,” he said. “I’m proud of the boys, we put a shift in in both defence and attack and it was very good. It’s a great opportunity to be in a competition like this, it’s a big learning experience for us and will benefit our futures in rugby. It’s a privilege to captain the team and especially this group of boys, they are great to train and play with and we’re getting better.
“The attack was going really well, we were running some excellent lines and they really paid off in the second-half. We were really clinical in our attack, we were linking the backs and the forwards, it worked really well.”
Wales have one last chance to shine on the international stage when they take-on Italy in the final match of the Under-18 Six Nations Championship. The Italians shocked England 32-30 in the first game of the day to recover from their last-gasp loss to Ireland in Ystrad Mynach. And Morgan knows Wales will have to front-up against the improving nation.
“Italy had a brilliant result against England and they’re clearly a great unit,” he added. “We have a lot to work on and improve to beat them on the weekend. Each team is different, Ireland were less physical than France, we just have to take everything and learn from it ahead of Italy.”
