Wing Jeff Hassler scored twice and created Taylor Paris’ try as they tore the Russian defence apart.Â
Nick Blevins added a fourth try with the boot of James Pritchard doing the rest.Â
With the temperatures plummeting in north Wales, the sides could have been forgiven for feeling the cold. But it was a ferocious start as the two teams looked to lay down an early marker.
Canada dominated the early possession and led through a penalty from full back Pritchard. Igor Klyuchnikov then traded kicks with Pritchard before the Canucks pulled clear with a try from right winger Hassler.
Picking up the ball inside his own half, a try looked unlikely but Hassler showed the Russian defence a devastating pair of heels to sprint 80 yards and cross under the posts.
Pritchard converted and added a penalty before half-time for a 16-3 lead.
Hassler, who had been the game’s main attacking threat, turned provider in the early stages of the second half.
He brushed aside a number of poor Russian tackles and fed teammate Paris who raced in for a brilliant try.
Pritchard converted and repeated the feat following a Nick Blevins score as Canada took total control of the game.
