Welsh Rugby Union Statement

At the meeting of the WRU General Committee last Thursday a resolution was passed that certain players of Penygraig RFC should be charged with doping offences under the WRU’s anti-doping regulations arising out of the alleged refusal of players to submit to doping control tests on 14 May, 2003, at the Silver Ball final. Consideration is being given to possibly one or more club officials of Penygraig RFC also being charged.

b) an experienced medical practitioner with knowledge of doping in sport
c) a Member of the Board or General Committee with relevant knowledge and experience

Patrick Harrington QC has been approached to act as Chairman of the Special Disciplinary Panel and it is the hope of the WRU that the hearings will take place in the latter half of July, 2003.
