‘We want – and need – a win for confidence and self-belief. We can’t offer a long injury list as an excuse, but it is not making life any easier,’ said Young.
‘We are not far off being a very good team. We showed in flashes we can play, but we need to play to win games. At times we need to go for field position.
‘I thought the forwards went quite well. We have just got to keep working. We have to be confident in our ability.”
And Young has had to take a close look at the tape, in order to analyse where the problems started, in a game that, in the early stages seemed to be the Blues’ for the taking.
Young said, ‘Obviously, we’re disappointed we lost because we started very well by going into a 10-point lead.
‘But mistakes in their 22 ended with them scoring at our end when, in fairness, possibly we should have been the team scoring. It was unfortunate.
‘A lot of things we did very well. We played some good stuff, although there were times when we needed more going forward. We need to be clinical in the opposition 22.
‘And our one-on-one defence was poor. We missed too many tackles. But it was a 100 per cent better team performance than against the Borders.
